One quality that is undeniable about Sudano is that he is a gamer who loves to play the game. He continues to show great progress and play with more confidence each time we see him. The OF prospect showed an improved 60-yard dash time; checking in at 6.82 at the Unsigned Senior Showcase. Sudano hit from a slightly more opened stance and showed that he could spray line drives all over the field in batting practice. He has consistently improved his barrel control and the ability to recognize and handle off-speed pitches. He threw 81 miles-per-hour from the outfield and has the intangible instincts to play any of the three outfield positions.
This was my first impression of Sudano on the mound and he showed quite well. He pitched exclusively from the stretch with solid tempo and direction. He has a clean, whippy arm action and has great lay back. Pitching between a ¾ and high ¾ arm slot, Sudano is still a bit raw in some aspects. He showed firm command of glove side down with his 77-79 (81) mile-per-hour fastball and also displayed a sweeping 66-69 MPH slider.
NJ Open (August 5, 2015)
Sudano put together an improved performance at the New Jersey Open Identification Showcase. The 6-foot prospect hit with a more relaxed rhythm and put a consistent short stroke on the ball, particularly to his pull side. His best swings resulted in line drives in the 5/6 hole and to left field. He repeated his swing well and showed the ability to make hard contact.
Defensively, he had a nice day; throwing well on the bag with improved arm strength and carry. He made a nice play in the game portion of the event while in centerfield. Sudano is a solid college prospect who should get some interest late this summer and into the fall.
NJ Top Prospect Games (July 15, 2015)
Sudano is a 6-foot outfielder who plays for a talented Jersey Boyz program. Sudano ran a 7.04 in the 60-yard dash and moved well in the outfield. He worked through his throws nicely to third base, throwing 80 miles-per-hour and on the bag. Offensively, Sudano hit with an athletic base and a short stride with some load in his hands. He hits with a short bat path on most swings, producing line drives and hard ground balls all over the field. He lands nice and balance allowing himself to handle the pitch on the outer half, as well as the off-speed pitch. He does occasionally drop his hands due to a dip from his high back elbow start but he showed that this could be corrected.
