10/18/15 -- Vaz his from a wide base and with balance in his lower half. His bat path has smooth but there was some length there on Sunday as he missed a couple hitter's pitches. His abbreviates his finish which means that he may have some untapped aggressiveness in his swing. When he is on time, he does smoke some solid line drives with back spin. He posted a new high exit velocity of 79 MPH. Defensively, he tends to not get as low as he should when fielding ground balls. He picks errant throws well and has a feel for coming off the bag to make the catch-and-tag play. His arm strength (76 MPH) is progressing nicely and should be serviceable by spring.

9/20/15 – Vaz has a long 6-foot-2, 180 pound frame and has projection. He hits from an athletic base with balance throughout his swing. His bat path is smooth and his lower half is explosive. He generates good bat spin on line drives, especially when he stays with a simple, up-the-middle approach. He was agile and moved well around the bag. His glove skills are solid and although his arm action is a bit long, he does show the ability to get rid of the ball quickly while making accurate throws.
