8/17/16

Crafty left-handed pitcher who showed very well at the event. The fastball touched 79 mph and has good arm side run to it. Throws two different spin pitches, both have a bunch of deception to them and are not easy to hit. The breaking ball is big, sitting 53-55 mph and the slider is 63-65 mph. The changeup is a work in progress, sitting at 67-69 mph. Pitches out of a slightly higher than ¾ arm slot. The head movement during his pitching has lessened in the last year. The lift is athletic and he sweeps the glove off the target as he strides towards home. Does a great job of competing while he’s on the bump, goes right at hitters.

6/28/16

Left-handed pitcher who we have see a bunch in the recent months.  The delivery has some head lean to it, causing a slightly higher than ¾ arm slot. Hyperextension on the backside of the arm swing as you can see the ball behind his body after he brings the ball out of his glove. The fastball sat at 78 mph and has arm-side run to it. The breaking ball is soft, sitting at 61 mph, needs more fastball hand speed to it. Needs to make the ball break out in front of his head, as opposed to wrapping his wrist on the backside of the arm swing. The changeup works sitting 70 mph. Loves to pitch so watch him improve in the next year, he is into the craft.

6/23/16

6-foot-1, 185-pound strong athletic frame, good durable pitchers body, lower half is strong. A left-handed pitcher, fastball was 77-79 mph, pounded it to both sides of the plate. The arm worked out of a high-¾ slot and worked downhill with ease. Changeup showed proper fade to arm side, with good depth and used his entire body to throw this pitch, was thrown at 70-75 mph. Threw both a curveball at 53-56 mph and slider at 61-64 mph with the slider being  better of the two. The tempo of the delivery was on time and worked extremely fast. Times to the plate were around 1.4-1.5. Showed good aggressiveness, attacked catcher and competed well.

3/24/16

Left-handed pitcher who showed a repeatable delivery and the ability to stay over the backside well. The arm is long on the backside and shows looseness out front. The front side is active with a hard pull of the glove side, causing his arm slot to raise up higher than ¾. The fastball touched 77 mph and was true. The breaking pitch is 54-55 mph as he stiffens his wrist and slows his hand speed down. Using his fingers will allow the spin pitch velocity to increase. The changeup was 69-71 mph pitch and still a work in progress but comes out of his hand well.
