Briggs

2/21/14 – Briggs is a strong 6-foot-1, 205-pound catcher. Offensively, his swing path gets a little uphill, but showed good pull power.  He starts with a balanced stance and has a quick bat.  Briggs has an exit velo of 90 MPH, a high for the event.  Defensively, Briggs is showing good improvement.  He recorded pop times between 1.94 and 2.15 with a velo of 81 MPH from the crouch.  He has soft hands and quick exchange with good footwork behind the plate.  He ran a 4.55 home-to-first.

 
2/21/14 – Briggs is a strong 6-foot-1, 205-pound right handed pitcher. Briggs was one of the best strike-thrower of the event.  He lit up the strike zone with a 84-86 MPH fastball and 67-70 MPH change-up.  He showed a 12/6 curveball with gradual break at 65-68 MPH.  He has an over-the-top delivery and throws with regular effort.  Briggs stays in-line and has good rhythm as he gets down the mound.

11/3/13 - Briggs is a strong, wide-shouldered 6-foot-1, 205-pound catcher.  At the plate he has an open set-up and strides inline with the pitcher.  He drops his hands some creating length in his swing but is able to produce good bat speed – as evidenced by his 88 mph exit velocity time, one of the top times in camp.  He was the top throwing catcher in the camp with pop times ranging from 2.02 to 2.15 and throwing velocity of 78 mph.  He ran a 7.45 60-yard dash.
