8/9/15 - Westphal is a 6-foot-3 198-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in the 2016 class.  Westphal runs a 7.52 60 and has a 75 exit velo. At the plate, physical hitter, simple load, minimal stride, aggressive hands, quick bat speed, level to extension, consistent solid contact using both gaps during batting practice. During defensive evaluations, 80 mph positional velo, quick footwork, clean exchange, over-the-top release, accurate throws. Behind the plate, pop times in the 2.06 to 2.28 range, one of the top pop times for the event, 74 mph positional velo, short, high three quarters release, quick transfer, fluid footwork, somewhat accurate throws. On the mound, Westphal is controlled in delivery to balance, accelerates down the mound, short over the top release, athetlic finish.  Fastball at 76-79 mph, works both sides of plate, throws for a strike.  12-to-6 breaking ball, 59-63 mph, change-up at 62 mph.

12/14/14 - Westphal is a physical 6-foot-2 193-pound right-handed hitting catcher. At the plate, athletic set up, smooth load, minimal stride, strong lower half, fast bat speed, short to contact, level path to extension, pull power, gap-to-gap approach, runs 4.72 home-to-first, 75 mph exit velo.  Defensively, posted one of top POP times of day at 1.95, POP range is 1.95 to 2.03, mostly accurate throws, 79 mph positional velo, quick exchange, quick footwork, high three-quarter release. At 1B, had one of the best infield velos of event at 82 mph, over-the-top relase, big target at 1B, quick footwork on ground balls and around the bag, clean exchange, accurate throws.
