4/25/13 - Unsigned senior, 6-foot-2, 171-pound athletic frame with long arms and plenty of room to physically develop. Has emerged this spring has high-interest prospect. Works from low ¾ slot, loose arm, works across body, deceptive and athletic delivery. Fastball in 83-86 range with considerable sink and some cut action. Strike-thrower, keeps ball down in zone, misses barrels. Curveball has one-plane sweeping action in the 72-73 range. Shows changeup infrequently, but is effective pitch; comes out of same window with similar arm action. Has emerged as ace for Edwardsville. Improved to 5-0 after yielding 3 hits in 5 innings against Alton. 0.47 ERA with 0.57 WHIP. Coach Tim Funkhouser said Hagen is late bloomer after growing about four inches as a junior. With his deception, low ¾ arm action and sinking fastball, Hagen looks like he will continue to get outs at the next level.  

Hagen has a projectable 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame and showed feel for four pitches, throwing all for strikes. Coming from a low 3/4 arm slot, Hagen has long arm action and good rhythm on the mound while hiding the ball well in his delivery. His heavy fastball was thrown in the 78-80 mph range, topping at 81-mph with arm side run. He also showed near fastball arm speed on his off speed pitches, an late moving 11-to-5 breaking ball (69-72) and a 69-72 mph change up  with arm side run and sink. Hagen also showd a 73-74 mph cutter.
