2/20/16 - Melcher is a 5-foot-11 191-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class from St. Pius HS.  He ran a 4.31 home-to-first and has an 87 mph exit velo, one of the top  RHH exit velo at the event. At the plate, balanced stance, controlled leg kick loading with hands, quick hands with quick bat speed, swing produces line drives to middle of cage during batting practice.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, over the top release, hands work in sync with feet, clean exchange, plays through the ball. On the mound, fastball at 74-76 mph, some with late sink, curveball at 63-66 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up at 64-68 mph.  Melcher comes from an over the top release point, tuck at balance point, throws slightly across body with regular effort.
