5-foot-9, 165-pound catching prospect with solid, athletic frame. Uses short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 74 mph from the crouch. Quick footwork and exchange. Pop times between 2.12 to 2.20. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts from an athletic stance. Uses a short stride. Good use of his lower half. Fluid rhythm to his swing. Line drive production. Hands are quick through the zone. Registered a top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee. Ran a 8.06 60.
9/29/13 Smaller framed catcher from Traverse City St. Francis HS (5-foot-, 160-pounds) Time is on his side. Shows good actions and smooth release behind the plate. Rakes ball across body well. Little wasted movement. Pop times hovered around 2.0 with 1.98 as his best. Ball carried well. At the plate has good shoulder trigger. Fast bat produces backspin. Aggressive and carries himself well.
6/18/13 Undersized at 5-foot-9 and 160-pounds, Tanner gets the most out of his body. His compact swing allows him to get barrel to ball consistently. He sits low and comfortable and his footwork and transfer compensate for the lack of arm strength now, but time is on his side.
