6-foot, 205 pound big strong body prospect. Creates a big wide frame for pitchers to throw to behind the plate. Blocks and receive the ball well. Quick transfers allow for a solid pop time of 1.94-2.07 on throws to second base. Has middle approach at the plate with plus power. The ball jumps off his bat with a bat speed at 94 mph. With plus power has an approach to take pitches on outer 1/3 to right field. Ran 4.44 home to 1st.
8/30/13
Strong bodied catcher with big time pop in his bat. Will hit. Longer transfer behind the plate but will improve. In the infield projects as a 3B. Soft hand. Solid throws with accuracy. High follow. Has all of the tools. Needs to refine them.
9/29/13 Physical kid with big time power potential. Offensively minded with fast bat. Can really swing it. Well balanced. Blocks the ball well. Good frame for a catcher. Showed well in the infield as well as behind the plate. Pop times ranged between 2.03 and 2.1, which is better than before.
3.2.13 Ryan is advanced for his class. He has big broad shoulders and good strength (5-foot-10, 185-pounds). Behind the plate he showed solid footwork and quick-twitch movements. Throws from a higher arm slot than most catchers. Accuracy of throws will improve over time and become more consistent. He had consistent 2.12-2.18 pop times, his best being 2.08. Showed softer hands behind the plate and a good willingness to block the baseball. At the plate, he carries himself with some swagger. There is more power in the bat as he learns not to cut himself off. Overall his hands were quick and the ball jumped.
