Ellis has an athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame with broad shoulders. On the mound, he throws from an over-the-top arm slot with a short arm action and some effort in the delivery. His fastball was 73-78 mph with some downhill action. His curveball showed some depth with 12/6 shape sitting 61-64 mph. He threw a straight changeup that played well off his fastball sitting 67-69 mph. He stays inline with his target and has a slight head jerk with his delivery.
