Shorts with an athletic, quick-twitch right-handed hitting middle-infielder with a simple, smooth swing. He gets the bat through the zone on a level path and utilizes his lower half well. He showed a line drive approach and gap power potential. In the infield, he has advanced footwork and hands and is able to range each direction. He has a decent arm to go along with a clean, solid transfer. He can stick in the middle of the field.---- on the mound, Shorts has a controlled delivery with smooth tempo. has has a shorter sound arm action creating nice arm speed throwing from a high three quarter slot. Has a very clean and efficient delivery that he repeats well. Fastball is straight up to 84 mph sitting 80-82. Breaking ball has 12/6 action with gradual bottom out action at 73. Changeup has fade to the pitch at 74 mph.
2.12.17 - Shorts has a 5-foot 9, 145-pound frame. Hits from a square setup with a short smooth load. Has a short swing path with average bat speed. Simple compact stroke. Middle type approach. Not much power projection but should be a good hitter for average. Athletic actions in the infield. Clean hands and exchange with a quick release. Sound footwork ad works thru the ball well. Strong arm from the infield with a velo of 83 mph. ext velocity of 77 mph. Ran a 7.3 60-yard dash  -----  From the mound he shows a controlled delivery with a quick arm. His arm Angle is high ¾. The quickness in his arm can make it difficult for hitter to time up. His fastball is 79-80, topping off at 82 with run. His breaking ball shows late life and bite at 69-70. His change-up is 72-75 with some fade. Shorts could be a late bloomer with some potential. Shows projection on the mound.
