Right handed hitting catcher, who again impressed at a PBR event. Extremely advanced as a defender, not just in the physical part of catching. He really has a feel for calling pitches and handling pitchers. I haven’t seen many catchers, in my 20 years of recruiting, who have the feel for that. It’s a lost art. The receiving is soft and the throwing is simple. Threw 73 from back there with good feet and a simple path. The pop time was 1.9. At the plate, he sets up slightly wide with a controlled bottom half and he gets the ball to the ball. All his balls are back spun and he shows a good feel for the pull side of the field. His next step is to spread the field and become a real dangerous offensive player. He is a legit prospect for me.
8/5/15
Strong and polished right-handed hitting catcher. This is the second event he has attended and he has improved immensely since the winter. Defensively, threw 74 from behind the dish, and a pop time of 2.02. The feet and transfer are very well taught and executed. The receiving is soft and he controls the ball when it gets in the glove. An above average catcher for me. Ran a 4.74 down the line as well. At the plate, showed a simple and strong stroke. A high hands and even base setup, the swing path is flat and on time. Had a tee exit velocity of 90. Division 1 catcher for me.
11/16/14
6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher who showed soft receiving skills and threw 2.09. Defensively, has clean feet and a short arm path. Arm strength will improve and the transfer can clean up as well. Showed life in his hands at the plate, 88 mph tee exit velocity. Pull side power and a long, strong approach to the bat. Can be dangerous as he advances levels. Has a chance to be a catcher who hits for power at the next level.
