6.27.2017
5-foot-11, 135-pound left-handed pitcher who showed well at the event. The arm is clean and the direction of his feet are appropriate. The front arm raises as he goes into his delivery, causing deception to the hitter as it’s difficult to pick up the ball. The tracking of his front shoulder needs a tweak as he comes off track prior to foot strike. The spins on all his pitches are appropriate and he will improve with added pounds/strength. The fastball touched 81 mph and is true. The spin pitch has the correct shape to it, sitting at 65 mph. More fastball hand speed is needed as he matures. The changeup is a work in progress as he continues to develop. Good showing and a solid 2019 prospect.
Griffin Tomaszycki, LHP/OF, Taunton HS, 2019
8/5/15 – Tomaszycki is a 5-foot-7, 120 pound prospect from Taunton High School in Massachusetts. Offensively, Tomaszycki ran a 7.87 in the 60-yard dash but his foot speed suggests that we will get significantly faster. He is a left-handed swinger who has a wide, balanced base and a line drive swing plane. The 2019 prospect showed the ability to control the barrel and should become a strong hitter when he matures physically. In the outfield, he showed the ability to make the athletic play. He has a strong arm for his arm, working through his throw well on the bag to third and home in the showcase portion.
On the mound, Tomaszycki uses an athletic pitcher type of knee bend and an uptempo delivery. His mechanics are smooth and repeatable. His only mechanical downfall is that he lands across his body. His fastball sat between 68-73 miles-per-hour (tops 74 MPH). He also showed good fade on a changeup and some bite to his 64 MPH slider. His arm is quick and works well. More is on the way for the young left-hander.
