Another solid performance by David as he continues to improve for me. On the mound, the fastball touched 78 mph with true left-handed run to it. The breaking ball was 67 mph with a good shape to it. The delivery needs some cleaning as his shoulder tracking to foot strike is poor and the front side of his body is a non factor in helping his delivery. The arm works well on the mound as he uses a high leg lift. Minor changes could make a big difference as he has a feel for the game. Defensively, he is a solid outfielder, throws 75 mph from out there and has a very good feel for getting off the ball and handling the corner outfield positions. Ran a 4.3 down the line to first on a dig. The barrel finds the ball more often than naught, the more I watch him. Had a few knocks in the game, squaring balls up, tee exit velocity of 84. The set up is wide, with high hands and an easy bottom half. He then throws the barrel and his hands directly to the ball. It's pretty simple for him. Would like to see him get stronger and keep developing, I like his game.
3/8/15
5-foot-11, 165 pounds with a thin frame. The southpaw throws through a high-¾ slot with short arm action while displaying some effort in delivery. Consistently pounded the zone with his 73-75 mph fastball. Offspeed pitches still need some developing. 60-62 mph curveball features gradual 12/6 action. Arm speed tends to slow with his 65-66 mph changeup that features fading action at times. From the outfield he doesn’t use a crow hope and tends to open up on his throw. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 73 mph arm strength.
