6-foot-3, 168-pound RHH has a lot of physical projection in frame, starts in a balanced, somewhat narrow stance and uses a long stride to initiate swing, creates occasional lift and flashes of projectable power, went 0-for-3 in game play with a deep fly out to CF. Arm strength plays well across the infield, flashes good range and solid glove, above average runner with solid tools across the board.
6-foot-3, 165-pound RHH with lanky and projectable frame, showed good tools across the board, hits from a balanced stance, short stride, stays quiet and has an aggressive approach, flashes projectable power, went 2-for-3 in game play with singles to LF and RF, above average runner. Shows good footwork and hands defensively, works through the ball well, good body control, strong/accurate throws across the infield. McCullough’s size and tools make him a very intriguing player in the 2018 class.
As a pitcher, with highly projectable frame, works through a high-3/4 slot with some quickness in arm, fastball shows late arm-side run that can get in on the hands of right handed hitters, curveball has short break and was erratic at times although he did record two strikeouts with it, slows arm slightly on the changeup but it has the makings of a solid pitch, allowed two hits and struck out three in his inning of work (2 looking on CB, 1 swinging on CH). McCullough’s length and projectability coupled with his current velocity make him an intriguing prospect on the mound with more velocity likely to come.
