2/16/14 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect with athletic build, plays through the ball well in the outfield, on this occasion showed 86 mph arm with carry (have seen up to 88 mph), hits from a balanced setup and uses lower half well, generates good bat speed, shows the ability to make hard contact to all fields with projectable gap-to-gap power, have seen exit velocity as high as 91 mph, ran the 2nd fastest 60 time of the event at 6.79, featured in standout OF article from the event.
2/8/14 - Potential two-way prospect. Presently, he throws from two different arm slots. From a high 3/4, he sat 81-84 mph with some sink, but his future may be from a low 3/4 slot from which he sat 81-83 mph with substantial arm side. More importantly, he located his fastball in the zone as well. Beyond the different arm slots, Neuer offers plenty of potential as he currently is an upper-body type arm. If he can make adjustments and incorporate his lower half, Neuer shouldn't have a problem seeing an increase in velocity. His breaking ball shows late life form both slots in the 66-68 mph range while he showed more command of his changeup from the high 3/4 slot. Additionally, at a smaller program, Neuer should be considered a two-way prospect. He showed arm strength from the outfield and quickness in his hands at the plate.
12/15/13 - 6-foot-1, 178-pound, left-handed hitting prospect with athletic build, projectable frame, athletic outfield actions, continues to show gains, event best 88 mph arm strength. At the plate, hits from a balanced setup, no stride, good use of lower half, consistently squared the ball up in his round showing the ability to make hard contact to all fields, projectable gap-to-gap power, flashed his bat speed with 90 mph tee exit velocity, ran an event best and improved 4.06 home to first base time (-.15 from previous event), did not pitch at this event due to just starting off-season throwing program, one of the top prospects left on the board in the 2014 class.
8/11/13 - 6-foot-1, 170 pound prospect, lean and athletic frame with room to fill, good projectability, athletic outfield actions, moves well and takes good routes, showed increase in arm strength from previous event at 87 mph with on-line carry. At the plate, the left-handed hitter from a balanced setup, good rhythm, short stride, gap to gap approach with occasional pull pop, consistently squared up the baseball in batting practice, shows bat speed with 91 mph tee exit velocity (+3 from previous event), ran event best 4.21 down the line, went 3-for-4 in game action showing the speed part of his game with two infield hits and sharp single to right. On the mound, projectable frame, uses long arm action through a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot, fastball shows good arm side run and sat 83-84 mph touching 85, will throw curveball from different arm slots, occasionally dropping down, good command of curveball with 11/5/12/6 action at 68-69 mph, throws good changeup with arm-side run and sink at 74 mph, would not be surprised to see more velocity to come from Neuer.
6/11/13 - 6-foot-1, 160-pound, left-handed hitting prospect with projectable frame, moves well in outfield, soft hands, plays through the ball well, good arm strength at 85 mph. Hits from balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, uses good lower half torque to create barrel whip through the zone, consistent hard contact in round of BP, hard single to right in game play and robbed of another hit by right fielder, solid left-handed hitting prospect, ran 6.92 60 yard dash. On the mound, uses long arm action through a high ¾ slot, loose arm, good rhythm and balance in delivery, very good arm side run on fastball at 81-83 mph touching 84, showed good feel for curveball with 11/5 action at 65-66 mph, changeup is solid at 75 mph with arm side run thrown with good arm action, picked up velocity since previous event in Feb, projectable athlete with good 2-way ability.
2/18/13 - 6-foot-1, 160-pound, left-handed hitting prospect with projectable frame, slow exchange, 80 mph arm strength from outfield. At the plate, starts in a shoulder width stance with stiff legs, uses a slight leg kick trigger, tends to arm bar in load, gets lower half involved in swing creating some bat speed through the zone, runs well with a 6.89 60 yard dash, showed good bat speed with 88 mph tee exit velocity. On the mound, uses long arm action through high ¾ slot, good rhythm and balance in delivery, easy effort, fastball sat 80-81 mph touching 82 with some arm side run, showed good feel for sharp 11/5 curveball at 65-67 mph, changeup is a good pitch with arm side run and sink at 70-71 mph. Neuer showed good command of all 3 pitches, showed good athleticism and 2-way ability as outfielder as well.
