8/17/14 - 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitter posted a 4.88 home to first base time and personal best 86 mph tee exit velocity. Hits from a balanced stance, short stride, has a gap to gap line drive approach, went 0-for-5 in game play with two strikeouts. Solid defensive catcher, receives and blocks well, tends to drift significantly into right-handed batters box on throws, showed the best arm strength to date at 77 mph, release was slower than in the past, pop times ranged from 2.00-2.08, have seen sub 2.0 at other events. On the mound uses long arm action through high ¾ slot, good pitchability, fastball sat 78-80 mph touching 81, mostly straight, good command of 64-68 mph curveball with 11/5 action, good arm action on changeup at 73 mph which showed better velocity difference off fastball from previous event, also showed a slider at 72 mph, allowed two hits with no walks and struck out one in his two innings of work.
2/16/14 - 5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect with athletic build and room for additional strength, shows good athleticism behind the plate, sets up well and shows solid receiving skills, has a quick transfer and release with 74 mph arm from the crouch, pop times ranged from 1.95-2.03 (best was 1.90 at summer event.) At the plate, hits from a balanced setup with a short stride, good balance, slight arm bar in load, has made strides as a hitter showing improved bat speed and hand quickness, line drive type hitter, showed improved tee exit velocity at 84 mph.
7/9/13 - 5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect, good setup behind the plate, showed improved receiving skills since Top Prospect Games sticking pitches on the corners, good blocking skills, athletic with good lateral movement, flashes quick glove to hand exchange, quick feet, 75 mph arm strength from the crouch, pop times ranged from 1.90-1.98. At the plate, hits from open stance, short stride, shows ability to hit the ball the other way, needs to continue working on staying inside the ball on inner half, shows some bat speed with 80 mph tee exit velocity. On the mound, showed longer arm action from previous event, high ¾ arm slot, good rhythm in delivery, repeatable and online mechanics, fastball sat 77-79 mph, has good command of curveball at 67-69 mph and 11/5 action, good command of changeup with some slight arm side run and sink at 74-76 mph, would like to see more velocity difference between fastball and changeup, pounds strike zone with all 3 pitches.
6/11/13 - 5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect shows good blocking skills, good athleticism behind the plate, continue working on sticking the pitch down in the zone, quick glove to hand transfer, pop times registered 1.97-2.08 with 73 mph arm strength. On the mound, uses medium arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, fastball sat 79-80 mph with some cutting action, showed good command of 67-69 mph curveball that showed sharp 11/5 action, confidence to throw the curveball on any count, repeatable mechanics and smooth rhythm to delivery.
