Fall Prospect Program 2013 - The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Kirkland is back on the field after a labrum injury prevented him from playing last spring. He ran a 7.80 60 yard dash, showed a 77 mph arm across the infield, and uses his strong lower half well to generate bat speed as evidenced by his 91 mph tee exit velocity. He went 7-for-21 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 5 RBI during the program and made several hard outs as well. Defensively, he showed the ability to make plays on the move with an accurate arm across the infield.
9/7/13 - The 5-foot-10, 211-pound Kirkland is coming off of labrum surgery and regaining his arm strength (76 mph across the IF) but he certainly impressed with his bat. His walk-off RBI double was absolutely smoked to center field and he included another line-drive single on the day. He generates plenty of bat speed with good use of his strong lower half. He made a nice play on a slow roller during game play as well.
10/14/12 - Kirkland showed decent arm strength across the field at 77 mph with accuracy. At the plate, the 5-foot-10, 202-pound right-handed hitter hits from an open stance and uses a long stride. He uses his strong lower half to generate above average bat speed through the zone.
