4/26/14 - As we’ve reported before, Sam Chadick is one of the top uncommitted Class of 2014 prospects in the area. Due to a hand injury he missed most of the summer and entire fall so from a recruiting standpoint he is somewhat of an unknown, but that is likely to change rapidly if his performance on Saturday is any indication. The strong, athletic-framed 5-foor-11, 180-pound right-hand hitting centerfielder reached base three times (two singles, walk) and stole two bases. At the plate he has a balanced, athletic stance and a compact line-drive swing with bat speed. He has an advanced understanding of the strike zone – making him an ideal top of the order hitter. Chadick is already on record running a 6.68 60-yard dash this winter at the JCCC showcase and he uses that speed well in games - on the bases and as he tracks balls in the outfield. He also has a strong, accurate arm from centerfield. When considering the fact he didn’t play a baseball game from June through March it’s likely his best baseball this spring is ahead of him. He’s definitely a player with the tools, athleticism and aggressiveness to play Division I baseball, next year or after time at a junior college. In 14 games facing some of the top area teams, Chadick is hitting .326 with a .491 on base percentage, scoring 19 runs from the leadoff spot for Northwest. He’s also 6-7 stealing bases.
3/25/14 - Earlier this week our Unsigned Senior Spotlight was Northwest’s centerfielder Sam Chadick. On Tuesday, Chadick showed why he is indeed one of the top unsigned seniors in the Midwest. He’s a strong 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete and went 1-for-2 on the day with a double, two walks and a stolen base. He showed a compact swing with bat speed, is a very aggressive player overall yet also refused to expand the strike zone on pitches just off the plate.
