He shows bat speed at the plate and a middle of the field approach – with his sub 4.30 speed from the right side, Bland is a threat to reach base on most ground balls. His athleticism shows up defensively, too, as he showed impressive range at second base and got rid of the ball quickly – taking hits away from opposing hitters.
