4/22/14 Game Notes: Taylor pitched five innings for FW Carroll (6-7) in a 10-0 victory over Huntington North at Parkview Field in Ft Wayne tonight. He has pitched 27 innings this season, giving up 1 earned run (0.26 ERA) 5 walks and 49 strikeouts. At 6’2/ 225 the Wichita State signee has very strong legs, wide hips and shoulders, a ¾ arm slot. His fastball sat at 88 occasionally touching 90. He mixed in a tight, late breaking slider (72-75). At one point in the game he registered five of his nine strike outs in order. In the first inning he struggled with control as he walked two but settled and was outstanding the rest of the way. He also doubled in three at bats. 

2/23/13: 6-foot-2, 230 pound junior has a strong lower half.  In the field showcased a strong, accurate arm at 83 mph with life.  His feet are slow, but displays above average hands and the ability to make the routine plays.  At the plate starts open with a short stride. Possesses quick bat speed and gets to extension producing projectable power.  On the mound the righty has a drop and drive delivery and works from a ¾ arm action. He looks the part of a power pitcher with a big body and a heavy ball. He sat 84-86 and projects a good velocity jump in the spring as he continues to strengthen his arm. He needs to maintain arm speed on his breaking ball to throw it harder and tighten it up. Currently works down with some bite at 68-69. Change-up was 75-76 and lacked arm speed. Goshen is a follow in the 2014 class.
