2020 Mid Major Draft Prospects: At 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, Triotta is high waisted with a lean, athletic build and tools to match. Possessing uncommon wheels for a corner infielder, he ran a 6.3/60 on Dayton’s Scout Day, and backed it up last fall by posting several home-to-first times in the 4.13-4.15 range (plus-to-double plus speed). Though it wasn’t always present in game action last spring and summer, he packs plus raw power in his righthanded swing and appears to be driving the ball more consistently as the season approaches. Defensively, he shows good first step quickness at the hot corner with the requisite arm strength to stick there long term. (Granger)
6/25/15: The 6-foot-3 185 pound infielder ran a 6.86 60 yard dash. Defensively, he has a loose arm with fluid footwork. Hands are solid, long/clean exchange. Infield velocity was 84 with carry. At the plate, he has a tall setup and short stride. Bat path is short and level with average bat speed. Overall good approach at the plate with fluid rhythm. Line drive hitter. Exit velocity was 82mph.
2/22/15: 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, ran a 6.93-60. Showcased above average hands with quick feet. Needs to play through the ball more. At times fields on his heels. Across the diamond from a short arm action was 79 mph with accuracy. At the plat hits from an open setup. Loads back, short stride. High activity in the swing. Average use of the lower half with good balance. Above average bat speed. Long path to the ball with some barrel whip. Shows some power potential. Recorded a high exit velo of 85 mph.
9/21/14: 6-foot-3, 170 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with above average arm speed. Tall to fall type delivery and lands square. Fastball was up to 84 and consistently in the zone. Breaking ball sat 60-63 from an 11/5 shape with early break and thrown for a strike. Slows arm down on the 62-64 mph changeup. Defensively, possesses above average hands with a strong arm at 81 mph. Plays through the baseball well. At the plate starts open with a smooth load. Stride is short with average use of the lower half. Bat speed is above average and gets to extension. Line drive hitter. Registered an exit velo of 80 mph. Ran a 7.11 60.
