Hands work high with little movement in delivery. Delivery is repeatable. Shows a wide base works from a ¾ arm slot which creates slight run on his fastball. Arm action is short and loose with little effort. Needs to add quickness to his arm. Breaking ball lacks identity. Change up needs to maintain arm speed but shows sink.
9/23/12: Sampoll has continued to improve during each showcase he has attended. At the plate he shows a balanced approach and is beginning to use his lower half more and more. His bat speed continues to get faster. His swing plane is level and gets to extension barreling up most balls. He's a line drive hitter with some pop potential. In the field he moves well around the bag and shows a good, accurate arm across the diamond at 75 mph.
2/25/12: Sampoll is a 5’9”, 180 lb. freshman. He shows good size for a freshman. In the field he works around the bag well and shows soft hands with the ability to pick it. At the plate he shows a closed set up with good balance. His swing path is long, but shows good bat speed. Sampoll is a line drive hitter with some pop potential. On the mound Sampoll throws from a high ¾ arm slot. As a freshman his mechanics are still raw, but shows some projectability. His fastball is straight and sits at 74-76 mph. He throws two off speed pitches; a 67-71 mph breaking ball and a 70-71 mph change up.
