3/30/15 GAME NOTES: 2015 Indiana recruit showed some increased velocity sitting 84-86 with good arm side action and long 3/4 delivery. Beard worked hitters in and out but had some trouble commanding the strike zone towards the end of his appearance. Breaking ball was 73-74 with gradual break that started at the plate and broke away from righties.  

6/25/14:  6 foot – 3 inches/ 190 pounds, 4.75-H-1^st. Long, quick ¾ arm delivery, fastball was 80-84 with heavy downhill plain and consistently in the strike zone. Curveball  was 66-70 with gradual break. Offensively he hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, average bat speed and extension through contact. Pull hitter with some power. Athletic player.

2/22/14: 6-foot-3, 185 pound Junior possesses a projectable frame.  Beard was 79 mph across the infield.  Showcased average hands with a clean exchange.  Plays through the baseball.  Foot speed projects him more as a 3B.  At the plate starts wide and slightly open.  Stride is short.  Possesses stiffness with his lower half.  Swing path is long.  Possesses average balance throughout his swing. On the mound pitches from a high 3/4 slot with a short arm action.  Drop and drive type delivery.  Fastball topped out at 84 with some run.  Breaking ball was 69-71 with a sweeping action.  77-78 mph changeup shows good sink.  

10/19/13: 6-foot-3, 180 pound junior shows a slender build.  At the event was 78-81 mph. We’ve seen him up to 84 mph.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Coils throughout his delivery.  Arm speed is average.  Arm action is loose.  Comes out with a low front side.  Showed two different breaking balls; one more of sweeper at 66-69, the other showed a tighter rotation at 65-67 mph from 11/5 shape.  Good projectability, and should continue to add velo as he adds strength. Offensively starts wide with no stride.  Drops his hands during the load.   Swing path is long, but the hands work with some projectable power.  Across the INF was 73 mph.  Foot speed suggests he’ll move to 3B at the next level.  Average actions defensively with solid glove.  Shows a quick release.
