4/16/13 - Henderson is a highly projectable left handed pitcher who shows polish and poise. Big body, prototypical pitcher’s frame, sturdy lower half. Henderson commands the mound well, shows above average mound presence and controls the running game well. Delivery is slightly across his body, hides the ball well, some over rotation at the top of his balance point, adds deception to delivery. Fastball sat 81-83 mph, showed command with late action through the zone. Fastball had heavy feel at the bottom of the zone, late action coupled with deception makes his fastball feel harder than velocity indicates. Curveball has well above average depth, 62-68 mph, 11/5 plane, plus action. Big bending curveball shows excellent control and action, gets later bite when thrown harder. Also shows above average athleticism on the mound with the ability to field his position at a high level. Henderson is a high level left handed pitcher whose sturdy frame and heavy left handed fastball should get a lot of attention. Henderson’s command of the zone and the mound is what separates him from other left handed pitchers in his class.
