6/19/14 - 6-foot-4, 185-pound lanky right-handed pitcher drew audible gasps from the throng of college coaches and professional scouts during his bullpen session with 86-90 mph fastball from a long and loose, ¾ slinging arm action. Berry’s fastball had late, hard run, but he consistently missed up to his arm side, and proved to be hard to handle with is late movement, as he gets underneath the baseball at times. Works extremely fast. Slider flashed plus a few times anywhere between 66-74 mph, erratic as arm doesn’t catch up with body at times. Showed better feel for strikes with 69-71 mph split-change with bottom. Berry’s fastball/slider combination can be electric, and if he can synch together his delivery, his potential velocity from a unique arm angle could prove to be lights out in the back of a bullpen at the next levels.
