03/29/17 - Immediately noticeable about Drohan is the fact he has put on 20 or so pounds of muscle on a still lean and projectable frame. Mechanically he is sound, staying balanced over the rubber with a good lower half. He has had some questions about command in the past, although he would get the ball out of his glove late at times leading to some arm side high misses, he would show much improved command. With a clean 3/4 arm action, he worked a fastball in the 88-91 mph range early settling in at 86-89 with some late life. He has always featured a plus curveball, but was not always able to throw for a strike. He showed the ability to use the pitch as a swing and miss pitch using it for four of his nine strikeouts, but also consistently threw it for strikes at 75-79 mph. To go along with a live fastball and plus curveball, he showed a much improved changeup at 85-88 mph with quality arm speed.

Overall, Drohan shows a feel for three pitches and is one of the arms that can project to be a starter in professional baseball. There is present stuff, he showed the ability to remain under control with runners on base and still a lot of upside left in the young, fresh left hander.

10/16/16- Florida State recruit. Is a long and lean 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. The lefty has a clean and easy arm action, but the fastball only worked at 85-86 mph this weekend. He has shown some inconsistent velocity, but most likely due to the minimal innings he has thrown compared to others in the class. The mechanics and arm action work and as he continues to log innings you should see the velocity jump and stay consistent along with more consistent command of the pitch. To go along with the fastball, he also showed an above average curveball with tight spin and alte depth which shows to be a swing and miss pitch at 74-76 mph.

7/13/16- Committed to Florida State University.

7/8/16- Uncommitted.  No. 90 in Florida in the 2017 class looked good again continuing to throw strikes while maintaining his fastball velocity at 84-87 mph with a loose easy arm action with much more to come. He continued to show an above average curveball at 72-74 mph with tight spin and depth. He also threw a changeup at 76-77 mph. Drohan is still one of the best arms still available in the 2017 class.

05/28/16- Drohan is a tall, wiry 6-foot-2, 170-pound left-handed pitcher with loose and free arm action. He worked 83-86 mph with his fastball with more velocity to come. When he gets extension and stays on top of the breaking ball it shows a good late depth and comes out on the same plane as the fastball. Very interesting uncommitted lefty who will continue to get better throughout the summer.

2020 DRAFT: Six-foot-3, loose-armed lefty with a fluid delivery, plus curveball and fastball up to 94 mph. Drohan also has an athletic frame with plenty of room for future strength gains. He works quick with a fast-paced delivery and has been control-challenged during his collegiate career; 10 BBs in 4.1 IP as freshman, 48 BBs in 51.2 IP as sophomore and 11 in 17 IP this spring. However, he does show plenty of "stuff" with a low-90s fastball and higher spin rate (2340-2450 rpms), as well as a plus curve ball at 77-80 mph with elite spin rates in the 2900s. His fastball shows good run from a three-quarter slot, but it plays light. Hitters, especially right-handed ones, get an early look at the ball behind his back during his arm circle. Drohan also mixes an occasional hard circle changeup at 82-84 mph, spinning in the 2050-2150 rpm range. The shortened season hindered Drohan's draft value to some extent as he was moving up draft boards simply by throwing more strikes than previous seasons en route to 27 strikeouts in 17.2 IP and a respectable 4.08 ERA. Regardless, there aren't too many long, athletic bodied lefties throwing in the low-90s with a plus curve ball and Drohan will likely get selected in the top 3-4 rounds this summer.

3/10/20: Six-foot-3, loose-armed lefty with a fluid delivery, plus curveball and fastball up to 93 mph. Drohan also has an athletic frame with plenty of room for future strength gains. On this look he worked quick with a fast-paced delivery and battled Duke for 5.1 innings, but took the loss allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts over 97 pitches. The two walks were a bright spot and a step in the right direction for the southpaw who has been control-challenged during his collegiate career; 10 BBs in 4.1 IP as freshman, 48 BBs in 51.2 IP as sophomore and 11 in 17 IP this spring. He did show plenty of “stuff” with a low-90s fastball and higher spin rate (2340-2450 rpms), as well as a plus curve ball at 77-80 mph with elite spin rates in the 2900s. His fastball showed good run from a three-quarter slot, but it played light. Hitters got a good look at the ball due to a lack deception in his delivery. The ability to see the ball early for a hitter results in not only an easier target to square up, but the longer look also allows hitters to NOT swing at pitches out of the zone. This could partially explain his high walk rates. He also mixed an occasional hard circle changeup at 82-84 mph, spinning in the 2050-2150 rpm range and thrown with fastball arm speed. With ten weeks remaining in the regular season, Drohan has plenty of time to continue the improvement of his strike-throwing abilities and enhance his draft status from its current mid-Day Two. 6/27/18: Athletic 6-foot-3, 195 pound lefty with a sound delivery and compact arm action. Strike thrower with 84-86 mph fastball and an above average 75-77 mph curveball. Curve broke hard and late. Also mixed in a 74 mph changeup thrown with fastball arm speed. Fielded his position well. Impressively and efficiently set the CNT down in order in one quick inning of work. (Seifert)
