2/21/22

After a dismal 2021 season (.176/.318/.330) for fifth-year senior outfielder Reese Albert, the lefthanded bat had a huge weekend to open 2022. Totaling seven hits in nine at-bats, he led the 'Noles offensively. Upright in his setup and looking comfortable at the plate, he was short to the ball and long through it, using all fields in the process. Albert has struggled getting to the fastball in the past, but on this look he has improved getting to it without cheating.

10/23/16- Florida State recruit continued to hit over the course of the week. He has a strong lower half and a feel for the barrel. He may not be a draft guy out of high school, but could go to FSU and continue to hit for three years and be a fairly high pick after school.

10/16/16- Florida State recruit. The left handed hitting outfield stands at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. He has a strong lower half and even though there is some length in the swing the path keeps him in the zone. Displays the ability to drive the ball with authority and shows some pull side pop. He also shows some athleticism running a 4.2 and a 4.32 home to first times from the left side. Takes good routes and gets good reads in the outfield with accuracy and carry on his throws.

3/22/16 - Florida State commit. 6-foot, 180 pound outfielder with a thick strong lower half. Loose easy athletic outfield actions. Good reads and routes. Tracks ball well. Good instincts with above average range. Charges ball with a quick release. Average arm. Quiet approach. Loose quick bat with late bat speed. Very good hitters hands. Stays inside ball well. Can drive ball in both gaps. Easy power to all fields. Some loft in swing. Makes a lot of hard contact. 4.5 to 1B.

6/22/16 - Florida State commit. 6-foot, 180 pound outfielder with a thick strong lower half. Loose easy athletic outfield actions. Good reads and routes. Tracks ball well. Good instincts with above average range. Average arm. Quiet approach. Loose quick bat with late bat speed. Very good hitters hands. Stays inside ball well. Can drive ball in both gaps. Easy power to all fields. Some loft in swing. Makes a lot of hard contact.

6/14/15- FSU commit. 6-foot-1 180 pounds with a lean, athletic, and projectable body. Loose, high ¾ arm action from the outfield with a fringy ML arm. Quiet at the plate and keeps it simple. Has a nice hand load that gets him into a strong position. Short, quick swing and the ball really jumps off his bat. Advanced approach and can really handle a wood bat well.

2/5/15 - Good body and smooth LH swing. Stays inside ball well and uses whole field. Good hitters hands. Showed an AVG ML arm with good accuracy. Good instincts in OF with easy athletic actions. Ran a (4.45) to 1B. Body looks a lot faster than he shows. Holds his own at the top of the order of a good HS team as just a sophomore.

3/10/20:Albert has been a fixture in the Florida State lineup since the start of his freshman year, posting an .812 OPS in 2018 and a .908 mark in 2019. He missed the whole fall while rehabbing a shoulder that he injured last year and kept popping out on him, and he’s gotten off to a slow start to his junior year, batting .200/.375/.400 with 25 strikeouts against 12 walks in 55 at-bats. But he showed some signs of heating up this weekend, ripping a two-run double to right field on Saturday and then going 2-for-4 with his second homer of the season on Sunday. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Albert is a good athlete with solid speed that plays up in center field because of his good defensive instincts, though he has a below-average arm. His lefthanded swing is fluid but has some length to it, and he struggled some against offspeed stuff this weekend. Albert has solid-average to above-average raw power and has a chance to develop into an average hitter, but he doesn’t appear to have a standout tool at this stage. He’s a good bet to be drafted somewhere in the top 10 rounds in June because of his solid all-around game.(Fitt)
