03/07/17 - Florida State recruit. Currently ranked No. 11 in the Florida 2017 Class, No. 33 Overall. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds with a solid, athletic build. Has added to his frame over the past couple months. Works with a good pace. Clean, loose arm with a fluid delivery. Stays on line and repeats well. Fastball mostly sat in the 92-94 mph range with run, touching 95 early on. Curveball sat 75-79 mph with good shape and depth, threw it often for strikes. Struggled early with command of his fastball, but settled in during the third and fourth inning on way to eight strikeouts during his five innings on the mound.

5/3/16- Florida State commit who stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with a lean, athletic, and projectable body with long arms. He is ranked 16th in Florida and 41^st overall. He has clean and easy delivery that is under control and that he repeats. He turns in with his leg kick and he stays in line. Loose, effortless high ¾ arm action. He manipulated his fastball velocity but mostly sat in the 86-89 mph range against Durant. In the later innings his velocity was increasing as he was sitting 87-89 and touched 90 mph. His curveball is an above average pitched compared to other top high school righties and it mostly sits in the 73-76 mph range. He showed a changeup later in the game that had some arm side run and looked like his fastball out of his hand at 75 mph. It looks like he is beginning to add some muscle and he will certainly continue to gain velocity with maturity and strength.

2/25/16- Florida State commit who stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with an athletic, lean, projectable, long, and wiry frame. Under control and balanced in his delivery. Turns in with his leg kick and gets good drive with his lower half. He has a loose, over the top arm action and his fastball sits at 87-90 and touches 91 mph. Great feel for curveball that is well above average as it has good depth and a late break at 77-78 mph. Shows a decent slider at 80-82 mph. Solid changeup at 80-82 mph that is tough on lefties. He fills up the zone and will increase his velocity as he matures and gains weight. Complete game shutout against Plant HS and was still sitting 88 mph in the seventh inning.

01/18/16- 6-foot-2, 180-pound Florida State recruit. Strong, athletic, projectable build. Fastball sits 87-90 mph and has been clocked up to 92 mph with movement. Locates his pitches and throws on a downward tilt. Repeats and finishes well, balanced. Showed a good feel for his offspeed pitches.

10/19/15 - Verbally commits to Florida State

7/13/15: 6-foot-2 180 pounds with a lean, athletic, and projectable frame. Relaxed at the plate, has rhythm, and gets a good separation for his load. Flat swing plane that produces line drives to all fields. Good range in the infield and attacks ball hit his way.

2020 DRAFT: Van Eyk has been a strong performer since he set foot on FSU's campus, serving mostly as a bullpen weapon in 2018 and then blossoming in the weekend rotation as a sophomore. He's always had good stuff, but his velocity climbed in the fall, when he repeatedly touched 98 mph and demonstrated improved command. He didn't show that high-90s heat in Week Four at Duke, but he did top out at 95 and hold 91-93 velocity for six innings, touching 94 regularly over the first three. Strong and athletic at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Van Eyk has a clean, compact arm action and a repeatable delivery from a standard high three-quarters slot. He ended the 2020 season with a 1-1 record and 1.31 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 20.2 innings, along with a .151 opponents' batting average. His walk rate remains a bit high, but he's a fierce competitor who has shown a knack for pitching himself out of trouble when his control falters. His 76-80 mph curveball regularly flashes plus, with big depth and tight spin as high as 2800 rpm. His 80-83 mph changeup also flashes plus with good arm speed and sink, and he showed a good feel for throwing it right-on-right as well as against lefties. He also mixed in a slider at 83-84 that showed average at times, but the curveball is the real difference maker for him. Van Eyk looks like a surefire first-round pick in June, with a chance to go in the top 30 picks.

3/10/20: He didn’t show that high-90s heat Friday at Duke, but he did top out at 95 and hold 91-93 velocity for six innings, touching 94 regularly over the first three. Strong and athletic at 6-foot-1, 198 pounds, Van Eyk has a clean, compact arm action and a repeatable delivery from a standard high three-quarters slot. He was very good in a tough-luck loss Friday, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings, making his season line 1-1, 1.31 with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 20.2 innings, along with a .151 opponents’ batting average. His walk rate remains a bit high, but he’s a fierce competitor who has shown a knack for pitching himself out of trouble when his control falters, as he did in the third and fifth innings Friday, stranding two baserunners in each frame. His 76-80 mph curveball regularly flashed plus, with big depth and tight spin as high as 2800 rpm. 6/27/18: Impressive young arm for the CNT. At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with a loose arm action, fluid delivery and good athleticism, Van Eyk looks the part of a ML starting pitcher. Drove his 92-95 mph fastball downhill from a three-quarters slot to the bottom of the zone during a dominant first inning. Got off-line and labored while trying to find the zone in his second inning of work. Repeated an above average-to-plus breaking ball at 79-83 mph. Pushed an 80-81 mph below average change-up, missing up and to his armside. Overall, he struck out four of the nine batters he faced while walking three and allowing one hit and no runs. He has Day One potential for the 2020 draft if he can improve the consistency of his direction to the plate (which should help refine his fastball command) and develop his change-up into a useable third pitch.
