10/29/16

5-foot-10, 145 pound, average athletic frame, has plenty of room to put weight on. The hands are loose, movements are relaxed. A left-handed hitter, the stance is slightly open, uses a leg kick for timing, gets his hands and weight back into good starting position. The hands are held slightly above his back shoulder. The path is level to up, has some sweep in his swing. The barrel has whip out front, the tee exit velocity was 80 mph, with a ton more in there. The approach is middle to pull, has a chance to be a singles and doubles machine as he gets stronger. Times down the line were, 4.53 and in game performance was good, collected a triple, single with two more good at bats. The stride ties him up at times, needs to step straight. Defensively, shows soft hands, good feet and easy transfer. The flow to and through the baseball is advanced. The arm was clocked at 70 mph, ball comes out of a ¾ slot, look for the arm to take a jump. The double play feeds were good from both sides. Projects for me as more of a gap to gap hitter, with more second baseman in him. Strength is a must, look for him to take a jump by the spring time.
7/27/16
5-foot-10, 140-pound, average athletic frame, wiry strong, has some fast twitch to him, plenty of room to fill out. A left-hander, who was impressive in this workout. The stance is even, feet are shoulder width apart, hands are loose and really work to and through the baseball. The upper body leans a little over his waist, gets cut off on the inside fastball, drives the ball well to the left center gap. The lower half is under control, has a small leg kick for timing. The tee exit velocity was 81 mph and times down the line were 4.56, plays the game faster than times. In game swings were good, drove the ball back up the box and stayed in the middle of the field. Defensively, plays up the middle, has good actions, feet and hands work well together. First step quickness is good, gets off the ball to both sides well and showed good feel for back hand. The arm has good touch, clocked at 70 mph, has more in his arm. Projects for me is a second baseman who can really handle the bat, will be out to see him early and often, like this one a ton.
