5-foot-9, 161 pounds, lean build. A plus athlete, Torniero ran a 4.10 home-to-first. This speed helps him chew up real estate in the outfield, where he profiles as a plus defender capable of handling center field duties. His arm was clocked at 84 mph from the outfield, throwing from a ¾ slot. Torniero takes good routes to the ball, closing well on the catch before quickly transitioning into the throw. In the box, he stands open-to-even, with an all fields, line drive approach. His feet set shoulder width apart and his hands work high. The bat path is level. He posted an exit velocity of 91 mph. Once on the bases, Torniero showed aptitude for making his speed play. Also a pitcher, Torniero has a simple left handed delivery. His lead leg starts toward the first base side, with a whippy arm that comes to throw out of a ¾ slot. He throws his fastball between 78-80 mph with some sink to it. He has a big, loopy 11/5 curveball that works between 62-64 mph. He was comfortable working backwards with the pitch with a sense of control. The changeup is still a work in progress between 68-69 mph, but shows promise as a show me offering.  Overall, Torniero has the tools and skills to play collegiate baseball next year and as such, is a high follow.

5-foot-7, 155-pound, strong, quick twitchy, athletic frame. Torniero gets the most out of his smaller frame with decent pop at the plate and a strong arm (84 MPH from the outfield). The unusual righty batter and lefty thrower, Torniero is a weapon defensively. An athletic 5’7”, he gets the most out of his smaller frame with decent pop at the plate and a strong arm (84 MPH from the outfield). Has the tools to play center but could easily slot into any outfield slot. Good speed helps him cover ground (4.29 home to first) and has an above average high school arm in the outfield, keeps everything on a line and on target. Great bat speed, small step triggers the swing, built for line drives. Level swing plane. Needs to refine approach and pitch recognition, looking to drive the ball rather than make contact. All this being said, the present package Torniero features defensively, contact skills at the play, and developing gap power in games, Torniero has the types of tools teams covet.

5-foot-7, 160-pound, strong, fast twitch athletic frame. The hands, wrists and legs have strength and quickness to them. One of the better players in the area. A toolsy type right-handed hitter, legs might be his top tool, a legit 6.9 runner, didn’t run all that well at this event. The approach is simple, balanced, aggressive to the baseball and squared it up routinely.  The stance is spread out, slightly open, hands are loose, held just above the back shoulder. For timing uses a minimal leg kick, stride is straight and gains ground with it. The hands could have some more separation from the body during the load. The swing path is flat through the zone, gets extension out front, stays through it and the barrel has life and speed to it. The approach is more middle to pull, has enough juice to beat the outfielders. Defensively, has a cannon from the outfield, attacks the baseball, gets behind it, transfer is clean, steps through hard. The arm action is short, quick, fast arm, comes out of a ¾  to high ¾ slot, clocked at 82 mph. Throws are downhill on a line, gave catches something to handle. Big time prospect, serious follow, get out and see him early and often.

5-foot-6, 155-pound, strong athletic frame. The hands, wrists and legs have above average strength to them.  A two-way athlete, speed is his best tool, ran a 6.9 sixty-yard dash, is low to the ground and really picks them up puts them down, is an extremely aggressive athlete. A right-handed hitter, the hands are loose and start just above his back shoulder. The feet are wider than shoulder width and are slightly open. The lower half is under control, gains ground with the stride, hands stay back and is ontime and balanced throughout. The swing is level to up, the approach is more middle of the field, gap to gap, shows to have gap power.  Swung the bat very well in his round of BP.  Defensively, plays the outfield, projects as a centerfielder, the arm is above average, clocked at 84 mph, ball jumps out of his hand, arm works of a natural ¾ slot. The prep steps, feet in transfer are sound, builds momentum to the release of the baseball, comes through the baseball well. Off the mound, this lefthander pounded the zone with three pitches. The delivery is repeatable, works out of the set position the entire time, the direction is inline and is on time with it. The arm action is slightly longer, clean and works out of a ¾ slot. The fastball was clocked at 78-80 mph, located down in the zone to both sides. The breaking ball is thrown slower at 60-63 mph, could turn it into a small slider, has slurvy action at times. The changeup was clocked at 67-74 mph. The fastball is by far is his best pitch. Projects for me as a top of the order hitter, ability to handle the bat, can help off the mound, would be a great pen guy at the next level. Big time follow.
