6-foot, 185-pound, physical athletic frame, shoulders are sloped, lower half is strong. The back is wide, frame has room to put added weight on. A right-handed pitcher, who has a simple and repeatable delivery. The hands raise slightly with his controlled leg raise, the gather has a little coil to it. The direction for the most part is inline, the ball and arm work out of a high ¾ slot. Pitched downhill and lived at the knees, pounded the fastball to both sides, with some bore action to the arm side. The fastball was 78-80 mph, has logged a good amount of innings in HS/Summer. The velocity should climb at some point here in the next 6-12 months. The changeup has proper fade to arm side with some depth to it. The curveball has tilt, has a 11/5 break to it and was clocked at mid 60’s. Three pitch pitcher with good pitch ability. Offensively, this right-hander hits from a slightly wider base and is balanced throughout the swing. The path is level and he gets through the baseball well and finishes a smooth one handed finish. The tee exit velocity was 83 mph and ran a 4.55 down the line. Defensively, plays the OF, routes and angles are good, transfer is clean step through is quick and in line. Clocked at 77 mph. Definite follow, projects for me off the mound.
3/2/16
6-foot, 185-pound average athletic frame, shoulders are sloped, lower half is strong and he has room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, the delivery is simple and very repeatable. The hands start just above the waistline and have some movement and work in sync with his controlled leg raise. The separation is clean, lead leg is in line on foot strike and squares up to home plate on release. Slight pull of the head on release, for the most part delivery is sound. The fastball was 78-80 mph, pounded it to both sides of the plate. The curveball was 70-74 mph, spin could be tighter, gets around it at times. The change up is a plus pitch, has proper spin and fade to arm-side, uses his entire body to throw this pitch and he sells it well. Times to the plate were 1.67-1.88, needs to get quicker. A strike throwing machine, velocity should climb as he gets stronger.
7/28/15
At 6-foot, 177 pounds, with a lean body, sloped shoulders, has room to put weight on. A right-handed hitter, hits with an even stance, uses a leg kick for timing. The path to the ball is good, hands work, his tee exit velocity was 81. Footwork in outfield was good, showed a good arm at 77. Running time down the line was 4.78. Off the mound this right-handed pitcher was in the high-70s, but there is much more in there, has thrown a lot of innings this year. Curveball has proper rotation and has some feel for a changeup. Is an advanced three pitch pitcher for his age.
