6-foot-1, 165-pound, long, lengthy, athletic frame. The shoulders are sloped, neck is long and back is wide, has plenty of room for future development. A right-handed hitting catcher, the stance is slightly open, feet are wider than shoulder width. The hands are held above the back shoulder, elbow slightly extended outward. The bat starts in more of a vertical angle, has minor pre pitch movement with the hands. For timing uses a small controlled toe tap, hands stay back, stride foot wants to leak out just so slightly, hands follow and cast early. Closing down the front foot will allow the hands to get to the baseball in a more direct path. The swing is down to flat through the zone, finishes it off with one hand. The approach is more to middle to pull, with more line drives during his two rounds of batting practice. Defensively, is balanced behind the plate, feet are quick and work well with hands during the transfer, right foot replaces left foot, shows to have no wasted movement. The arm action is short, throws from his ear, it’s clean and works freely. The arm was clocked at 71 mph with more in the tank, pop times were 2.16-2.19, throws were on or close to bag. The release gets slightly uphill at times, get out front on release point, finish throw off. The block was performed well, glove goes down first, body follows and soften the baseball. Solid follow, frame is large, strength is a must, will aid in his development.
