8/20/17

6-foot-1, 165-pound, a long lengthy athletic frame, has plenty of room for future development. A right-handed hitting catcher, showed to have feel behind the plate. The setup behind the plate is balanced, shows to be athletic and flexible back there. The hands are soft, receives with ease, gets around the baseball, hands go down first on the block and scrambles up quickly. The arm action is clean on the back, works out of a high ¾ slot, was clocked at 68 mph, could use more strength. Looks to stand up during transfer, staying lower throughout may help in reducing pop time, which was at 2.13-2.28. Throws were on the proper side of the bag. Offensively, the feet are in line, at shoulder width apart. For timing uses a toe tap, keeps weight back, stride is straight and gains ground with stride foot. The hands are loose at shoulder height, with the bat starting in a good loaded tilted position. The swing is level to up, creates backspin to the baseball. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 75 mph, collected two singles in game play, while being clocked at 4.81 on a ground ball. Look for the game to go to another level once strength is added.

Home-First: 4.81

Exit Velocity: 75 MPH

Arm Velocity: 68 MPH

7/27/16
6-foot, 155-pound, long, lengthy, athletic frame, shoulders are sloped and neck is long, has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed hitter, the stance is even, slightly wider than shoulder width, hands are loose and bat is flat just above the shoulder. The path is flat across the chest and finishes with two hands. The tee exit velocity was 77 mph and ran a 5.1 from home to first. The hands could stay up slightly and be a bit more direct to the ball. Defensively, shows a short throwing action from behind the plate, clocked at 67 mph and pop time of 2.25. The setup is side saddled just so slightly, with feet shoulder width apart, looks to be comfortable and relaxed. For the transfer uses a quick jump turn, feet getting himself in line with second. Strength is must, will help in all parts of his game. At this point the arm and feet from behind the dish are his best tools.
