5-foot-7, 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 4.48 dig to first base in the offensive portion of the workout. The approach in the outfield is athletic and he showed the ability to get off the ball. The arm is clean, throwing 76 mph from the outfield with plus accuracy. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 80 mph as the frame needs added physical strength to it. Hits out of a wide base, the bottom half stays under control throughout. The path is simple, attempts to stay inside the ball at contact. Solid showing at the event, as the athleticsm is good.
Tee Exit Velocity- 80 mph
OF Velocity- 76 mph
6/20/17
5-foot-6-145 pounds, skinny but athletic, can add muscle without sacrificing quickness. Loftus has the speed (6.97-60) to cover ground for all three outfield positions, and profiles best in center field right now. That is where the arm plays best at 78 MPH on throws from the outfield. At the plate Loftus has a wide stance with the lead leg stretched out, gets wrists into position quickly. Short step for timing as he puts a level swing on the ball, built to put line drives to all fields. Took two solid rounds of batting practice, as well as good at bats in game play. Will need to add some more pop to the swing to round out the offensive profile, but looks to be able to handle the bat and uses the small ball game to round out his repertoire. A solid gamer, competes at a high level, will be a good one for a program.
Home - First: 4.41
Exit Velocity: 76 mph
2/25/17
5-foot-6, 145-pound, small, strong athletic frame, has above average strength for his size, shows to have some fast twitch actions. A right-handed hitting outfielder, speed is a solid tool for him, ran a 6.97 sixty-yard dash. The stance is balanced throughout, feet are even, slightly wider than shoulder width, the lower half is under control, has a minimal stride, steps slightly in, has a presence in the batters box. The swing is short to the ball, level across his chest, finishes with two hands at shoulder height. The approach was to all fields, hit the ball where it was pitched, the hands have strength, with pop in them. Defensively, attacked the baseball well, feet were set, steps through hard, gains ground towards his target. The arm action is shorter, clocked at 78 mph, has hand speed to it, gets rid of it quickly. Throws were online and downhill. Good looking scrappy player, who gets after it on both sides of the field, solid follow.
Sixty-Yard Dash: 6.97
Exit Velocity: 80 mph
7/12/16
5-foot-6, 135-pounds, average athletic frame, long neck with sloped shoulders, has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed hitter, the stance is even and balanced, with hands held higher than shoulder width, loose with some movement. The lower half is under control and has a minimal stride. A line drive approach, staying back up the middle the tee exit velocity was 75 mph, took two solid rounds of BP. Times down the line were 4.67. Defensively, plays the OF, prep steps, routes and angles to the ball were all good. The arm action is a little shorter, it’s fluid and has some hand speed out front. Clocked at 73 mph, had average carry. Strength is a must, someone to follow who can handle the bat.
