The ball jumps out of his hand from a short, clean arm action. Brown gets his legs into the pitch despite having a shorter stride. He stays inline to the plate, getting downhill. Posted times to the plate from 1.44-1.49 out of the stretch. Brown’s fastball sits at 77-79 mph with ample arm side run. Filled up the zone during his bullpen session. His curveball is a plus secondary offering at the high school level. Coming in between 65-66 mph, the pitch has a 12/6 shape and is a swing-and-miss offering. The changeup, which was thrown at 68-70 mph, is a work in progress. Thrown with the same arm speed, the pitch has show-me potential. Brown’s fastball-curveball combination is the bread and butter and the high school level. With a frame that will support further velocity gains and present pitchability, Brown is an exciting prospect from the 2020 class.
