7/18/17

5-foot-11, 185 pounds, good catcher build, athletic, still some projection to his lean frame. Shows some agility behind the plate. Balanced crouch with solid receiving skills, gets up and into his throws quickly. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.12, with 75 MPH throws from behind the plate. Whippy arm action as both a catcher and third baseman. Profiles best as a catcher. Offensively, DeClement is open to even at the plate and has loose hands. Level to slight loft in the swing path, leg kick helps start the swing, stays balanced through contact. Mostly a line drive approach but shows the ability for more power to enter his game, and drove a triple into the gap during game play. With continued development at the plate and defensively as a catcher, DeClement will only further his profile as a potential player at the collegiate level.

Home-First: 5.16

Exit Velocity: 82 MPH

Arm Velocity: C - 75 MPH, INF - 72 MPH

3/7/17

5-foot-10, 185-pound, average athletic frame, upper body actions and movements are smooth, lower half needs to continue to get stronger, looks to be more flexible and agile behind the plate. A right-handed hitting catcher, recorded a pop time of 1.97- 2.10, the hands and feet work well. The transfer is clean, gets glove hand to throwing hand quickly, no wasted movement, feet get in line and gain ground. The arm swing is very short, smooth, clean and throws right from his ear. The arm was clocked at 74 mph, throws are on a line, and on the bag. Receives the ball well, hands are soft, keeps pitches in the zone, glove gets down first on dirt balls with lower half following. At the plate, setup is balanced, feet are wider than shoulder width, hands are loose, have movement to them in the prep pitch setup. The lower half is under control, has a controlled leg kick, gains ground. The swing is level across his chest, smooth, barrel has some whip to it out front, finishes with one hand above his shoulder. The tee exit velocity registered at 83 mph. The approach is more middle of the field, gap to gap. The work ethic is well above average has turned himself into one of the better defensive catchers in the area, continued conditioning is a must.

Sixty-Yard Dash: 8.5

Exit Velocity: 83 mph

Arm Velocity: 74 mph

10/29/16

5-foot-10, 170-pound average athletic frame, lower half is strong, movements are free with loose actions. Defensively, is extremely balanced and works low to the ground in his setup. The hands are soft, works the low pitch well, gets underneath it. The transfer is simple, right foot replaces left foot, with direction inline to second. The glove comes right across his face in transfer, arm action is short and clean on the backside, ball comes out of a ¾ slot. Pop times were 1.97-2.09 and the arm was clocked 72 mph. Offensively, hits from right side, stance is slightly open, wider than shoulder width. For timing has a small leg kick, hands are loose and work freely through the zone, hits against a firm front side. The path is level to up, and finishes it off with one hand. The tee exit 84 mph, has some whip with barrel. Strength and continued conditioning is must.

7/12/16
5-feet-10, 165 pounds, catcher with a good catching frame, strong wrists and hands. Room to grow physically. Offensively, right-handed hitter, does a good job keeping hands back and going gap to gap. Stance is tall, straight up, even to even leg kick. Hands are loose through the zone, long stride, fluid load; uses lower half well, balanced finish. Tee exit velocity was 81 mph, with some whip of the barrel out front. Defensively, balanced squatting position with soft hands, receives the ball well and he gets thumb underneath the ball. Showed good instincts blocking pitches in dirt, and knack for the game. Best time to second was 1.97 seconds with a throwing velocity of 73 mph. Shows good knowledge for the game and willingness to compete and improve.

1/18/16
At 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, the frame is young and athletic, has plenty of room to fill out. Wrists and hands are strong. A right-handed hitting catcher. The stance is slightly open, and is a bit wider than shoulder width. The hands are set above the shoulders and does a very good job at keeping his hands back. The path is level across the chest, with a high one-handed finish. The tee exit was 76 with much more in there. Showed the ability to drive it to both fields. Behind the plate, looks to be advanced for his age. The setup is relaxed and balanced. The hands are soft and can really catch, does a very good job at the low pitch. Times to second were 2.02-2.08 and arm strength was at 70. I’ve had the opportunity to see Andrew workout a few times, works extremely hard and really loves to catch. Stay on him, much more to come.
