8/10/16 - Showed his usual polish and feel for a three-pitch mix. He was up to 93 early and sat 90-92 from an easy delivery. He mixes in a sharp slider and fading changeup, both of which have at average or better potential down the road and are thrown for strikes. The slider sits 76-78 and the changeup is 82-83. Hurt also made an athletic play off the mound. In three innings, he allowed four hits and a walk while striking out five.

6/24/16 - Polished right-hander with a three-pitch mix. He pitches with a 3/4 slot and longer arm action. His command was spotty and he was pulling open at times, but his fastball sat 89-91, touching 92, with arm-side sink. His curveball was inconsistent and sat 74-75. He showed good feel for a changeup, which had arm-side run at 78. He allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out two in three innings.

8/11/15 - Started for the Brewers (Southern California) against the White Sox (Midwest) and pitched three innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five. Already verbally committed to Southern California, Hurt has the makings of being a frontline prospect in the 2017 class. He has a projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds with present strength and room to add more as he physically matures. His delivery is extremely easy and balanced and he has a quick, loose arm action. The ball comes out of his hand well and he has arm-side life to his fastball, which sat 87-88 mph and hit 90 a few times while inducing weak contact. His breaking ball was loose at 73-76, but he flashed some good ones with sharp break and good shape. He also has feel for a changeup at 79-81.

2020 DRAFT: Hurt features an easy, athletic delivery that he's able to repeat consistently. Working primarily off the fastball, he's shown recent improvement with his secondary offerings. The fastball velocity has climbed to 95 rather consistently, while topping at 97, and featuring arm side run with late sink when down in the zone. Hurt's changeup velocity has improved significantly without sacrificing the sinking action that's made the pitch at worst average moving forward. His breaking ball has moved from a more traditional curveball to more of a slider-look at 83 mph with sweeping action. After erratic control during his first two seasons at Southern Cal (99 BB in 145 IP), Hurt started to put it together this spring with 25 strikeouts against seven walks in 17 IP. Look for him to be considered around the fourth round.

8/1/2018Polished, athletic righty with a three pitch arsenal. At six-foot-three, 205 pounds he repeated his simple delivery with a compact arm path to a high three-quarters slot. Easy, starter type of delivery and arm action with fair deception and extension out front. Fastball ranged from 89-91 mph with modest life and plus to plus-plus control. Pitched inside well to both right and left-handed hitters. Elevated on occasion. Average 74-75 mph curveball. 11/5 rotation. Good arm speed with depth to action on a 79-81 mph changeup; plus pitch. Showed consistent ability to hit spots and mix pitches. Sophomore-eligible by age, Hurt is a potential earlier round pick in 2019 due to his ability to pitch and, at this point, a shortage of top-round quality college arms. (Seifert)
