3/26/16 - A team was finally able to keep OF Josh Stephen (Mater Dei HS, CA) at bay as he went 0-for-3 against North Broward Prep on the final day. However, he still drove in two runs and got down the line in 4.18 seconds from the left side. Stephen has gotten strong since last summer and improved his approach at the plate. He stays short and compact with his swing and uses the whole field well.

3/25/16 - Mater Dei OF Josh Stephen continued his torrid week with a double, making him 8-for-12 in the tournament with a home run and four doubles. He has a short, quick swing and excellent barrel awareness.
3/24/16 - After a huge first day, OF Josh Stephen (Mater Dei HS, CA) finally recorded an out, though it took until his fourth at-bat of the day. After collecting two singles and a double to start the tournament 7-for-7, the Southern California recruit struck out.
3/23/16 - Returning to the NHSI after winning it in 2012-2013 is Mater Dei HS, CA. On that 2013 squad was a freshman, OF Josh Stephen. A Southern California recruit, he made a triumphant return to Cary, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. After blooping a single into left field for a single, he turned on pitches in his next three trips to the plate. His two doubles were smoked off the right field wall, missing a home run by about a foot. He didn’t miss in his fourth at-bat, launching a three-run shot to right to put Mater Dei up 5-4 against The First Academy, FL. He has a short, quick stroke and can really whip the barrel through the zone with his hands.
