State Tournamanet Spotlight: OF Corey Bird

If you can pardon the pun, outfielder Corey Bird was born to fly. The 6-foot, 160-pound Marshall University recruit has been flying around the base paths this spring with regularity. Heading into sectional play the left-handed hitter had swiped 45 bases. His foot speed has also come into play frequently this season in helping him compile a .481 batting average.
Bird is no stranger to this kind of success, having hit over .500 as a junior in 2012. Bird and his Herbert Hoover teammates hope they will be making one flight together come Saturday, a trip to home plate to accept the West Virginia Class AA state championship trophy.
