The Hamsphire HS Trojans have won 12 consecutive games, sit at 20-1 overall and are ranked #2 among AAA teams in the state. Much of the Trojans success can be attributed to a team ERA below 3.00.

Senior RHP Matthew Maiers has been the main cog in the rotation going 7-0 with a sub 1.00 ERA to date. Maiers has made great strides since going 4-3 with an ERA over 5.00 last spring. Possibly his greatest contribution is his ability to give his team quality innings each time out. Meiers has gone at least five innings in each of his seven starts with a total of four complete games to his credit.

Maiers picked up win number seven last night in a 10-2 Hampshire win over Berkeley Springs. He allowed one earned run on two hits and struck out nine.

Maiers has also contributed offensively hitting .283 with two home runs and 17 RBI. With two regular season games remaining on the schedule and a potential deep playoff run, Maiers has a shot at reaching the elusive ten win plateau.
