Review of the Fall Program: The Outfielders

The Fall College Prospect Program wrapped up an 11 college, six weekend tour through Pennsylvania and West Virginia on September 29 at Alderson Broaddus University. Today we look at the top West Virginia outfielders that showcased their abilities during the course of the fall program.
West Virginia outfielders
Top Prospect:
1. OF Russell Schwertfeger (Brooke HS, Class of 2014) Schwertfeger is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect that showcased an 88 mph arm from the outfield and good foot speed (7.06 60-yard dash). He is a switch-hitter that went 2-for-5 with two triples at LaRoche College and Seton Hill University. Schwertfeger uses all fields and shows the ability to drive the baseball to the opposite field from the left side of the plate.
Best of the Rest:
2. OF Levin Nolan (Preston HS, Class of 2014) had a solid showing in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound uncommitted senior showed precise routes to the baseball and accurate throws of 79 mph from the outfield. Nolan displayed a square stance and very quick hands in squaring the baseball routinely in batting practice. He used very quick hands to produce a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Nolan went 2-for-4 at the plate in game action while barreling the baseball in all four at bats.
3.OF/1B Dakota Carr (Morgantown HS, Class of 2014) is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect that showcased athletic actions in the outfield with accurate throws of 80 mph. The right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open stance and utilizes a high hands load to produce a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Carr barreled the baseball routinely in batting practice and showed the ability to use all fields.
4. OF Eric Wooten (Cabell Midland HS, Class of 2014) is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect that showcased athletic actions and an accurate arm from his outfield position. The right-handed hitter utilized a square stance with no stride and a line drive approach to barrel the baseball routinely during batting practice. Wooten grounded out in all four plate appearances at Thiel College.
