Robert Cross will look to kick start his junior season by making the trek to Manheim, Pennsylvania for the annual Preseason All-State Showcase on February 14 and 15. The 6-foot, 200-pound RHP/3B will participate as a two-way prospect over the course of the two day event.
Cross comes off a banner 2014 sophomore campaign for the Washington Patriots, hitting .395 with 27 RBI and 22 runs scored. The right-handed hitter also reached base 10 times via walks and was hit once for an impressive .461 on base percentage.
In a pitching rotation headlined by RHP Jared Silva, Cross went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11.1 innings of work. The righty registered 11 strikeouts and walked just three hitters. With Silva (7-2) moving on to VMI for his freshman season of college baseball Cross is likely to pick up considerable innings left behind by last year's ace of the staff.
The Preseason All-State Showcase takes place annually shortly before the first allowable day of high school practices. Over the past two seasons 130 players in attendance have gone on to make college commitments. This year's event will likely showcase close to 200 prospects from as many as five states over the two days.
