The sectional tournaments around the state return today from a three day break as student athletes were taking the West Test exams. Check back daily for updates on scores of all games played in sectionals across the state. The blog is updated in real time as scores go final.

CLASS AAA

Region I

Section 1: Brooke, Wheeling Park (Wheeling Park wins Section 1)

  • Wheeling Park won both regular season meetings 16-6 and 7-6. (RESULTS: Wheeling Park 5, Brooke 3 -- Wheeling Park 5, Brooke 1)

Section 2: Parkersburg, Parkersburg South (Parkersburg South wins Section 2)

  • Parkersburg won 9-8 in the two teams only regular season meeting. (RESULTS: Parkersburg South 8, Parkersburg 1 -- Parkersburg South 8, Parkersburg 2)

Section 3: Preston, University (Preston wins Section 3)

  • University topped Preston 17-3 earlier in the season. (RESULTS: University 12, Preston 9 -- Preston 12, University 2 -- Preston 4, University 2)

Section 4: John Marshall, Morgantown (Morgantown wins Section 4)

  • The two teams split regular season meetings with John Marshall winning 10-7 and Morgantown returning the favor 12-6. (RESULTS: Morgantown 5, John Marshall 0 -- John Marshall 12, Morgantown 3 -- Morgantown 15, John Marshall 5)

Region II

Section 1: Jefferson, Washington (Jefferson wins Section 1)

  • The two teams met three times during regular season play. Jefferson won 7-6 and 4-3. Washington's lone win was a 4-1 victory. - (RESULTS: Jefferson 7, Washington 4 -- Washinton 9, Jefferson 8 -- Jefferson 4, Washington 0)

Section 2: Hedgesville, Martinsburg, Musselman (Hedgesville wins Section 2)

  • Hedgesville topped Mussleman twice by scores of 8-4 and 10-6. Hedgesville split the season series with Martinsburg winning 11-8 and losing 6-3. Mussleman knocked off Martinsburg twice by scores of 12-2 and 9-8. (RESULTS: Musselman 7 Martinsburg 6 -- Hedgesville 12, Martinsburg 7 -- Hedgesville 11, Musselman 1 -- Hedgesville 11, Musselman 5)

Section 3: Elkins, Hampshire (Hampshire wins Section 3)

  • Hampshire swept Elkins in the regular season 5-3 and 2-1. (RESULTS: Elkins 5, Hamphshire 3 -- Hampshire 7, Elkins 4 -- Hampsire 13, Elkins 3)

Section 4: Buckhannon-Upshur, Lewis County (Buckhannon-Upshur wins Section 4)

  • The two teams split two games with Buckhannon-Upshur winning 5-0 and Lewis County winning 4-3. (Buckhannon-Upshur 5, Lewis County 1 -- Buckhannon-Upshur 6, Lewis County 5)

Region III

Section 1: Oak Hill, Shady Spring, Woodrow Wilson (Woodrow Wilson wins Section 1)

  • Oak Hill beat Woodrow Wilson 4-3, Shady Spring topped Oak Hill 8-6 and Woodrow Wilson 9-6. (RESULTS: Woodrow Wilson 4, Oak Hill 2 -- Woodrow Wilson 14, Shady Spring 3 -- Oak Hill 10, Woodrow Wilson 2 -- Woodrow Wilson 14, Oak Hill 4)

Section 2: Greenbrier East, Princeton (Princeton wins Section 2)

  • Princeton downed Greenbrier East 6-3 in the only meeting this year. (RESULTS: Greenbrier East 11, Princeton 0 -- Princeton 5, Greenbrier East 2 -- Princeton 4, Greenbrier East 2) 

Section 3: George Washington, South Charleston (South Charleston wins Section 3)

  • The two teams split the season series with GW winning 13-12 and South winning 10-7. (RESULTS: South Charleston 6, Georger Washington 4 -- George Washington 6, South Charleston 5 -- South Charleston 15, George Washington 2) 

Section 4: Capital, Ripley, Riverside (Riverside wins Section 4)

  • Riverside topped Capital 7-6 and Ripley beat Riverside 3-1. Ripley and Capital did not play this season. (RESULTS: Ripley 7, Capital 0 -- Riverside 3, Capital 2 -- Riverside 4, Ripley 0 -- Riverside 6, Ripley 4)

Region IV

Section 1: Point Pleasant, Winfield (Winfield wins Section 1)

  • Point Pleasant won all three meetings between the two teams this season 11-10, 16-6 and 8-6. (RESULTS: Winfield 2, Point Pleasant 0 -- Winfield 3, Point Pleasant 2)

Section 2: Logan, Nitro, St. Albans (Logan wins Section 2)

  • Logan beat Nitro 4-3 and 11-1 and also swept two games from St. Albans 4-0 and 4-1. St. Albans and Nitro split their season series with Nitro winning 5-1 and St. Albans winning 3-0). (St. Albans 4, Nitro 1 -- Logan 10, St. Albans 0 -- Logan 5, Nitro 2 -- St. Albans 5, Logan 2 -- Logan 4, St. Albans 2)

Section 3: Hurricane, Lincoln County (Hurricane wins Section 3)

  • Hurricane won the only meeting between the two teams 24-0. (RESULTS: Hurricane 11, Lincoln County 1 - 5 innings -- Hurricane 17, Lincoln 0)

Section 4: Cabell Midland, Huntington, Spring Valley (Cabel Midland wins Section 4)

  • Cabell Midland and Huntington played three times this season with CM winning 2-0 and 4-3. Huntington's win was 14-8. Spring Valley topped CM twice by scores of 4-3 both times. Spring Valley and Huntington split two games with SV winning 6-3 and Huntington winning 10-3. (RESULTS: Cabell Midland 6, Huntington 5 - 11 innings -- Spring Valley 1, Huntington 0 -- Cabell Midland 7, Spring Valley 6 -- Cabell Midland 8, Spring Valley 0)


CLASS AA

Region I

Section 1: Oak Glen, Weir (Oak Glen wins Section 1)

  • Oak Glen and Weir will meet for the first time in the post season. (RESULTS: Oak Glen 11, Weir 1 -- Oak Glen 6, Weir 5)

Section 2: Ravenswood, Ritchie County, Roane County (Ritchie County wins Section 2)

  • Ritchie County and Ravenswood split a pair of games with RC winning 6-2 and Ravenswood winning 8-6. Ravenswood topped Roane County 9-2 in their only meeting. Ritchie County and Roane County have not played. (RESULTS: Ravenswood 6, Roane County 3 -- Ritchie County 10, Ravenswood 3 -- Ritchie County 12, Ravenswood 8)

Section 3: East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior, North Marion (Fairmont Senior wins Section 3)

  • Fairmont Senior defeated East Fairmont 17-2 and 8-3, while also taking two games from North Marion by scores of 5-2 and 15-5. East Fairmont defeated North Marion 18-3 in their only meeting. (RESULTS: Fairmont Senior 5, East Fairmont 2 -- East Fairmont 9, North Marion 2 -- Fairmont Senior 6, East Fairmont 1)

Section 4: Braxton County, Webster County (Braxton County wins Section 4)

  • Braxton County topped Webster County 14-7 in the only meeting of the year. (RESULTS: Braxton County 12, Webster County 4 -- Braxton County 13, Webster County 0)

Region II

Section 1: Frankfort, Keyser (Frankfort wins Section 1)

  • Frankfort defeated Keyser three times this year by scores of 3-2 (twice) and 16-2. (RESULTS: Frankfort 8, Keyser 1 -- Frankfort 5, Keyser 4)

Section 2: Berkeley Springs, Petersburg (Petersburg wins Section 2)

  • The two teams split the season series with BS winning 10-0 and Petersburg winning 12-11. (RESULTS: Petersburg 7, Berkeley Springs 4 - 8 innings -- Petersburg 3, Berkeley Springs 2)

Section 3: Grafton, Liberty, Philip Barbour (Philip Barbour wins Section 3)

  • Grafton topped Liberty 11-7, Liberty beat Philip Barbour 4-2 and Philip Barbour downed Grafton 13-3. (RESULTS: Liberty 8, Philip Barbour 6 -- Philip Barbour 9, Grafton 2 -- Philip Barbour 8, Liberty 3 -- Philip Barbour 5, Liberty 0)

Section 4: Bridgeport, Lincoln, Robert C. Byrd (Bridgeport wins Section 4)

  • Robert C. Byrd beat Lincoln twice by scores of 12-4 and 14-10. Lincoln and Byrd split their season series with a 10-1 Lincoln win and a 6-3 Byrd win. (RESULTS: Lincoln 6, Robert C. Byrd 4 -- Bridgeport 4, Lincoln 1 -- Lincoln 12, Robert C. Byrd 6 -- Bridgeport 8, Lincoln 7)

Region III

Section 1: Independence, Liberty Raleigh, Summers County (Independence wins Section 1)

  • Independence swept Summers County 6-0 and 11-0 this spring. Liberty and Independence split two games with Liberty winning 5-4 and Independence winnning 14-1. Liberty swept Summers County 16-13 and 14-8. (Liberty 7, Summers County 3 -- Independence 16, Liberty 6 --Independence 12, Liberty 2)

Section 2: Westside, Wyoming East (Wyoming East wins Section 2)

  • Wyoming East swept the two teams three games by scores of 18-1, 13-1 and 14-1. (RESULTS: Wyoming East 12, Westside 0 -- Wyoming East 10, Westside 0)

Section 3: Mt. View, River View (Mt. View wins Section 3)

  • The two teams split to regular season games with Mt. View winning 6-2 and River View winning 12-1. (RESULTS: Mt. View 6, River View 3 -- Mt. View 9, River View 5)

Section 4: Bluefield, PikeView, James Monroe (PikeView wins Section 4)

  • PikeView swept the season series from Bluefield by scores of 9-6 and 5-4. James Monroe swept two games from PikeView 5-4 and 4-3. James Monroe and Bluefield split two games with Monroe winning 5-4 and Bluefield winning 9-8. (RESULTS: PikeView 8, Bluefield 1 -- James Monroe 2, Bluefield 1 -- PikeView 4, James Monroe 1 -- PikeView 3, James Monroe 2)

Region IV

Section 1: Clay County, Herbert Hoover, Nicholas County (Herbert Hoover wins Section 1)

  • Herbert Hoover topped Clay County by scores fo 12-0 and 12-1, while beating Nicholas County 14-5 in their only meeting. Nicholas County topped Clay County 2-1 in the only meeting between the two. (RESULTS: Herbert Hoover 8, Clay County 5, Herbert Hoover 9 -- Nicholas County 4 -- Clay County 5, Nicholas County 4 -- Herbert Hoover 13, Clay County 3)  

Section 2: Poca, Sissonville (Sissonville wins Section 2)

  • Poca swept the season series by scores of 10-0 and 15-3. (RESULTS: Sissonville 6, Poca 2 -- Sissonville 6, Poca 4)

Section 3: Chapmanville Regional, Scott (Scott wins Section 3)

  • The two teams split this spring with Scott winning 6-5 and Chapmanville Regional wining 10-8. (RESULTS: Scott 5, Chapmanville Regional 4 -- Scott 9, Chapmanville 8)

Section 4: Mingo Central, Tolsia, Wayne (Wayne wins Section 4)

  • Wayne swept Tolsia 12-2 and 14-0, while beating Mingo Central in their only meeting 10-0. Mingo Central swept Tolsia by scores of 16-2 and 17-2. (RESULTS: Mingo Central 14, Tolsia 2 -- Wayne 7, Mingo Central 1)

CLASS A

Region I

Section 1: Bishop Donahue, Madonna, Wheeling Central (Wheeling Central wins Section 1)

  • Madonna swept three regular season games from Bishop Donahue by scores of 10-3, 6-1 and 5-1. Bishop Donahue topped Wheeling Central 6-5 and 7-6, while Wheeling Central got the best of Bishop Donahue once 7-6. Wheeling Central swept Madonna in two games 5-4 and 4-2). (RESULTS: Madonna 11, Bishop Donahue 10 -- Wheeling Central 6, Madonna 4 -- Bishop Donahue 8, Madonna 5 -- Bishop Donahue 6, Wheeling Central 2 -- Wheeling Central 4, Bishop Donahue 3)

Section 2: Cameron, Magnolia, Paden City (Magnolia wins Section 2)

  • Cameron swept Paden City 9-7 and 9-6 this season. Magnolia topped Cameron 7-0 in their only meeting. Magnolia and Paden City did not play. (Cameron 6, Paden City 2 -- Paden City 5, Cameron 4 -- Magnolia 11, Cameron 0 -- Magnolia 1, Paden City 0 - forfeit)

Section 3: Clay-Battelle, Hundred, Trinity (Clay-Battelle wins Section 3)

  • Trinity swept Hundred 15-0 and 13-0. Clay-Battelle swept Hundred by 25-5 and 31-1 scores. Clay-Battelle also swept Trinity 7-0 and 9-2. 

Section 4: Tyler Consolidated, St. Marys, Valley (St. Marys wins Section 4)

  • Tyler Consolidated and Valley split two games with TC winning 11-2 and Valley winning 17-14. St. Marys swept TC 10-0 and 14-0. St. Marys also swept Valley by scores of 20-2 and 20-1. (RESULTS: Tyler Consolidated 11, Valley 6 -- St. Marys 21, Valley 0 -- St. Marys 14, Tyler Consolidated 1 -- St. Marys 6, Tyler Consolidated 2)

Region II

Section 1: Notre Dame, South Harrison (Notre Dame wins Section 1)

  • Notre Dame swept South Harrison this season by scores of 10-9 and 9-6. (RESULTS: Notre Dame 5, South Harrison 2 -- Notre Dame 16, South Harrison 0)

Section 2: Tucker County, Tygarts Valley, Union (Tygarts Valley wins Section 2)

  • Tygarts Valley topped Union 10-0 and swept Tucker County by scores of 10-0 and 6-5. Tucker County swept three games from Union by scores of 16-2, 15-2 and 8-0. (RESULTS: Tucker County 7, Union 0 -- Tygarts Valley 12, Union 0 -- Tucker County 6, Tygarts Valley 2 -- Tygarts Valley 10, Tucker County 0 -- Tygarts Valley 6, Tucker County 5)

Section 3: Pendleton County, Pocahontas County (Pendleton County wins Section 3)

  • Pendleton swept three games from Pocahontas County by scores of 5-1, 10-5 and 5-1. (Pendleton County 10, Pocahontas County 0 -- Pendleton County 15, Pocahontas County 3)

Section 4: East Hardy, Moorefield, Paw Paw (East Hardy wins Section 4)

  • Moorefield swept two games from East Hardy 5-4 and 14-11. East Hardy swept two games from Paw Paw 13-0 and 2-0. Moorefield and Paw Paw did not play. (RESULTS: East Hardy 15, Paw Paw 5 -- East Hardy 3, Moorefield 1 -- Moorefied 16, Paw Paw 2 -- East Hardy 8, Moorefield 6)

Region III

Section 1: Greenbrier West, Meadow Bridge, Montcalm (Greenbrier West wins Section 1)

  • Greenbrier West swept two games from Meadow Bridge 20-7 and 21-7. Greenbrier West defeated Montcalm in a single game 24-7. Montcalm topped Meadow Bridge four times by scores of 18-12, 20-12, 16-1 and 4-3. (RESULTS: Greenbrier West 16, Montcalm 7 -- Montcalm 7, Meadow Bridge 2)

Section 2: Fayetteville, Midland Trail, Richwood (Fayetteville wins Section 2)

  • Fayetville swept three games from Richwood by scores of 20-0, 12-0 and 13-1 in the only games played between these three schools. (Fayetteville 12, Richwood 0 -- Fayettville 27, Richwood 0)

Section 3: Sherman, Valley, Van (Valley wins Section 3)

  • Valley defeated Sherman 7-4 and beat Van 7-2. Sherman swept two games from Van by scores of 11-5 and 12-2. (RESULTS: Valley 11, Sherman 3 -- Valley 4, Sherman 0)

Section 4: Man, Tug Valley (Man wins Section 4)

  • The two teams did not play during the regular season. (Man 7, Tug Valley 1 -- Man 16, Tug Valley 1)

Region IV

Section 1: Doddridge County, Parkersburg Catholic, Williamstown (Catholic wins Section 1)

  • Parkersburg Catholic swept Doddridge County by scores of 10-7 and 16-6, while splitting two games with Williamstown winning 13-5 and losing 6-4. Williamstown defeated Doddridge County 20-4. (RESULTS: Parkersburg Catholic 15, Doddridge County 1 -- Williamstown 12, Doddridge County 1 -- Williamstown 6, Parkersburg Catholic 1 -- Parkersburg Catholic 9, Williamstown 7 -- Parkersburg Catholic 16, Williamstown 5)

Section 2: Gilmer County, Wirt County (Gilmer County wins Section 2)

  • Gilmer County swept two games between the teams by scores of 2-0 and 8-1. (RESULTS: Wirt County 5, Gilmer County 0 -- Gilmer County 10, Wirt County 0 -- Gilmer County 17, Wirt County 1) 

Section 3: Calhoun County, Hannan, Wahama (Wahama wins Section 3)

  • Wahama defeated Hannan 13-3 in the only meeting between the three teams. (RESULTS: Wahama 14, Hannan 1 -- Calhoun 6, Hannan 4 -- Wahama 8, Calhoun 5 -- Wahama 13, Calhoun 1)

Section 4: Buffalo, Charleston Catholic, St. Joes (Charleston Catholic wins Section 4)

  • Charleston Catholic swept Buffalo by scores of 10-0 and 11-6 in the only games played between the three teams. (RESULTS: Buffalo 5, St. Joes 4 - 8 innings -- Charleston Catholic 4, St. Joes 0 -- Charleston Catholic 9, Buffalo 0 -- Charleston Catholic 4, Buffalo 2)
