We last reported on LHP/1B Austin Cordell in early May as he was nearing the completion of his sophomore year (Sophomore Spotlight, 5/4/13). The 6-foot-3, 175-pound lefty finished the season 7-3 on the hill with a 2.10 ERA and 77 strikeouts. The two-way prospect also turned in impressive offensive numbers hitting .340 with 37 runs scored, 24 RBI and 10 extra base hits. Cordell received All-State Special Mention for his play last spring and is currently ranked No. 14 in the WV Class of 2015.

While Cordell is not planning to be a two-sport athlete at the college level, he does take his athletic skills to the soccer field in the fall. The 1st Team All-State goalkeeper helped lead PikeView to a AA state title this past November.
