The West Virginia Class of 2015 is top heavy with talented catchers. There are currently six catchers ranked among the top 20 prospects in the class. Sitting at No. 8 in the rankings is Clay-Battelle HS catcher Kurt Latocha.
The 5-foot-11, 155-pound backstop put up big numbers during the course of his sophomore season in 2013. Latocha hit .555 with nine doubles and 21 RBI and earned a Class A First Team All-State selection for his production. The talented junior was also awarded special honorable mention Class A All-State at the conclusion of his freshman season.
Latocha will kick start his junior season by making a trip to Pennsylvania for the Preseason All-State Showcase in February. The event, which will take place at B2B Baseball Academy in Manheim, will showcase roughly 30 of the top catching prospects in PA and WV. Over the span of two days more than 150 prospects will display their talents for college coaches. Also scheduled to participate are C/2B Travis Renner (University HS, #11 in the WV Class of 2014) and C/3B Connor Moffat (George Washington HS, #20 in the WV Class of 2015).
