Washington 5, frankfort 2
Frankfort, No. 7 in the most recent Metro News AA Power Rankings, paid a visit to Washington on Thursday and got "Crossed" up by the Patriots 5-2. Brothers Robert Cross (2-4, R, 2 RBI) and Gavin Cross (1-3) combined for half of the Patriots six hits and Gavin tossed a complete game four hitter.
Washington did all of its scoring in a five run 4th inning to break open a scoreless game to that point. The Patriots parlayed a hit batter, two hits and two Frankfort errors into all the runs they would need on the evening. Senior Robert Cross (top right), a Mary Washington commit, had the big blow of the uprising with a two-run single.
Sophomore righty Gavin Cross (bottom right) struck out six and walked four allowing just two 6th inning runs while using 100 pitches for the complete game victory.
