The Hurricane Redskins jumped on Nitro for four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in a 5-1 win on Wednesday. Austin Hensley doubled in a run in the pivotal first and Connor Adams put an exclamation point on the inning with a three-run home run.
Riley Metz did more than enough to make sure that those four runs would stand up as he went the distance striking out 11. Metz gave up four hits and walked three in his complete game gem, allowing just one unearned run.
Ryan McDonough and Dylan Slack each had two hits for Nitro to account for all four hits the Wildcats were able to muster. Kip Brewer settled down nicely following the four-run 1st inning. He went the distance giving up just four hits. Three of the five runs he gave up were earned.
