roster additions
Two talented middle infielders have been added to the roster at DeSales University. SS/RHP Nick Spangler (Spring Grove HS) and 2B/SS Josh Pittman (Central Catholic HS) will join 2B/SS Ted Williams (Meadville HS) to form an impressive middle infield trio for the Grey Team.
Spangler is an uncommitted senior that is ranked No. 74 in the PA Class of 2014. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect sat 80-83 off the mound at the Big 26 Classic for Team Pennsylvania in July, but is being recruited as a primary shortstop.
Pittman has impressed with his effortless actions in the infield and his ability to make plays on the move at several fall program stops. The uncommitted senior is ranked No. 198 in PA and has been drawing interest from a number of schools as a result of his play this fall.
Williams, a Millersville University commit, was a teammate of Spangler's in the Big 26 Classic.
Final Stop: Back to Alderson Broaddus
Alderson Broaddus will host the final stop in the fall program on September 29. This will mark the 2nd PBR event hosted in West Virginia, both at A-B. The initial event hosted in WV, the West Virginia Open ID Showcase in July, was a huge success.
3B/RHP Jamie Switalski (Pine Richland HS) put on a hitting display at the event, hitting seven home runs in his batting practice round. Switalski committed to UMBC within weeks after the event ended.
2B/RHP Devon Walker (DuBois Area HS) showcased his two-way abilities sitting 83-85 on the mound, while impressing with his bat and glove. Walker committed to the University of Pitt Johnstown earlier this week.
The prospect that made the biggest impression at the event was C/3B Zach Minnick (Logan HS, Class of 2015). Minnick earned a spot on the Team Pennsylvania roster at the Midwest Future Games as a result and burst on to the national recruiting scene with his performance in Bloomington, Indiana. The 6-foot, 215-pound prospect is receiving interest from multiple Division I programs.
A host of uncommitted seniors, including RHP/OF Shane Ennis, 1B/OF Eric Fairman, OF/SS Collin Fantaskey, SS Jimmy Galusky, C Mason Prickett, C/3B Travis Renner, C Seth Roadcap, OF Russell Scwertfeger and RHP Justin Vardian were also impressive and each is likely to announce a college commitment in the coming weeks and months.
3B David Delawder, ranked No. 7 in the WV Class of 2015, also showcased well. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect is likely to draw considerable interest as a top of the order hitter and solid defender in this class.
