It has been two weeks since we last updated the Elite 8 rankings allowing many teams to play 8-10 games. As a result there has been some movement in all three classifications.
Following is a brief look at the movers and shakers in the latest rankings. CLICK HERE to see the complete Week 5 rankings.
Class AAA
The big school classification remains fairly in tact with Hurricane still sitting at No. 1. The Hedgesville Eagles, last year's AAA champs, return at No. 8 following a brief absence from the poll.
Class AA
The Bridgeport Indians make the biggest jump in AA following a 9-1 record over the past two weeks. The Indians jump from No. 6 to No. 2. Ravenswood and Pikeview enter the rankings at No. 7 and No. 8 following their recent success. Herbert Hoover, the 2013 AA champs, remain at No. 1.
Class a
The small school classification has a new No. 1 in St. Marys. The Blue Devils are undefeated at 14-0 with signature wins over 2A No. 7 Ravenswood and two wins over 1A No. 8 Parkersburg Catholic.
Gilmer County (14-2) jumps to No. 2 following a 7-1 stretch in the past two weeks. The Titans have split a pair of contests with ranked 1A teams thus far, beating former No. 1 Notre Dame (3-1) and losing to current 1A No. 5 Charleston Catholic 6-5.
